April Fools’ Day
April Fools’ Day is a day that is celebrated every year on April 1st.
It is a day where practical jokes, pranks and hoaxes are made to try and ‘fool’ family, friends or people in general. Traditionally these pranks could only be made before midday (noon) otherwise the person creating it was considered the fool. However, nowadays the pranks can be done the entire day in most countries. The fun thing about this day is that many of these pranks have been elaborately planned and some even appear on television or in newspapers.
a Fool = idiot (a stupid person)
a Joke = something you say or do to make people laugh. Sometimes it is a story with a funny ending
a Prank = A mischievous trick or practical joke
a Hoax = Something said or done in order to deceive people or make them think something is real or true when it isn’t.
